Community Guidelines (UPDATED 2/2013)

Unread post by adjectivecat » Wed May 04, 2005 12:27 pm

This community has a few simple rules:
  • Don't be rude.
  • Don't harass other users.
  • Don't be indecent.
  • Don't break the law.
  • Don't advertise or spam.
Here are some examples of what we mean:

Making the site unpleasant to read; intentionally being unkind; being an improper guest in someone else's house; using property without permission; not picking up after oneself; quoting wars; huge signatures; posting in the wrong forum; excessive, unwarranted reporting.

Ignoring "no"; stalking users on or off the forum; privacy violations.

Improper or sexual behavior in public or outside of adult-rated forums; nudity outside of one's home.

Breaking the law
Using illegal drugs; violating copyright law; aiding and abetting.

Don't advertise or spam
Letting people know your commission status in your signature is fine. Cross-posting ads for enlargement pills is not. If you want to announce a new, furry-related service in the Marketplace forum, please run it by a moderator.

If you don't follow these 5 rules, you will be subject to, at moderator discretion:
  • Rules explanation or private warning
  • Thread warning
  • Topic adjustment
  • Block
  • Ban
If you feel someone else is in violation of these rules, use the red warning "!" button next to the offending post and/or let a moderator know. Please don't report posts because of personal reasons, as that would be rude.

If you have objections to specific incidents where you disagree with how a moderator extrapolates and applies these rules, please let an administrator know.

Reason: updated marketplace bit because people keep asking me about it and the forum is already here

after much discussion, it was decided that the old rules were too complex and nuanced and limiting. these new rules give greater flexibility to the moderators, especially when it comes to dealing with flamewars and trolling.

the goal of any forum-like medium is to promote interesting, useful, and valuable discussion. that's the only reason rules exist, and now i believe ours better reflect this.

input is welcome.
